Fiber Glass Tape for Induction Furnace Coil Insulation – Technical Specification

Fiber Glass Tape is a high-temperature insulating material used for wrapping and insulating copper coils in induction furnaces. It provides excellent electrical insulation, thermal resistance, and mechanical strength, ensuring safe and reliable operation under high temperature and high-frequency conditions.

Function

The tape is used to insulate induction furnace coils and prevent inter-turn short circuits. It enhances coil durability, provides thermal protection, and maintains insulation integrity during continuous furnace operation.

Material & Construction
  • Base Material: E-Glass Fiber Yarn
  • Weave Type: Plain or Twill
  • Coating (Optional): Silicone, Acrylic, PTFE, or heat-resistant varnish
  • Color: White or off-white (coated variants may vary)

The tape is manufactured using high-quality glass fibers with uniform weaving to ensure flexibility and strength.

Technical Specifications
  • Thickness: 0.10 mm to 0.50 mm
  • Width: 10 mm to 100 mm (custom sizes available)
  • Tensile Strength: ≥ 200 N/cm
  • Dielectric Strength: ≥ 2.5 kV
  • Temperature Resistance: Up to 550°C (continuous)
  • Short-Term Temperature: Up to 700°C
  • Elongation: ≤ 5%
  • Flammability: Non-flammable
Electrical Properties

Fiber glass tape offers high dielectric strength and excellent insulation performance. It resists electrical stress, prevents leakage current, and is suitable for medium and high-frequency induction systems.

Thermal Properties

The material maintains stability at elevated temperatures and does not degrade easily under thermal cycling. It is compatible with insulating varnishes and resins, making it suitable for demanding furnace environments.

Chemical Resistance
  • Resistant to oils, solvents, and industrial chemicals
  • Non-corrosive and non-reactive with copper conductors
  • Low moisture absorption and good humidity resistance
Advantages
  • High heat resistance and durability
  • Excellent electrical insulation properties
  • Flexible and easy to apply on coils
  • Long service life under continuous operation
  • Suitable for vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) processes
Applications
  • Induction furnace coil insulation
  • Medium and high-frequency induction systems
  • Transformer and motor winding insulation
  • Heat treatment and melting furnaces
Installation Guidelines

The coil surface should be clean and dry before application. The tape must be wrapped with uniform tension and approximately 50% overlap. Multiple layers should be applied based on voltage and temperature requirements. For better bonding and insulation, varnish or resin impregnation is recommended.

Packaging

Supplied in roll form with standard lengths of 25 m or 50 m. Packed in moisture-proof packaging to maintain quality during storage and transportation.

Standards

Manufactured in accordance with IEC 60684 and ASTM standards for electrical insulating materials. RoHS compliant.
